Connie Sykora-Gerlich was there to recollect her father.
Standing near the nook of Dallas and Bagby Road, moments earlier than the Veterans Day parade started Sunday afternoon in downtown Houston, she uses the day to honor him and his service as a firefighter within the Army during World Struggle II.
“They served for us,” stated Sykora-Gerlich. “They gave for us to be free. It is extremely essential. Each considered one of them have a narrative behind all of this.”
Sporting a camouflage jacket and a shirt that read, “My Daddy, My Hero” Sykora-Gerlich was just one among many who gathered downtown to pay homage to veterans.
