UVU lifts shelter-in-place alert issued after man injured in shooting near school

OREM — Utah Valley University requested those on the faculty to shelter in place Thursday night after a capturing was reported at a close-by house complicated.

The capturing occurred about 8 p.m. at a doorway at Parkway Lofts Flats, 1225 W. one thousand S., south of a UTA FrontRunner station, Orem Police Lt. Trent Colledge stated.

One man was critically injured and taken to a hospital, Colledge stated.

No different injuries have been reported.

After the capturing, a 19-yr-previous man ran from the world, Colledge stated. Police recovered the gun used in the capturing.

Police have been looking for Elbert Paule in connection with the capturing. He is believed to be sporting an extended-sleeved yellow sweater.

Those that reside within the area have been additionally urged by dispatchers to remain inside.

The lieutenant stated the two males know each other and could be buddies. There is not believed to be an imminent danger to the general public. Further particulars about what led to the capturing weren’t instantly obtainable.

The shelter-in-place warning was a cautionary measure as a result of police do not know if the alleged shooter has extra weapons, Colledge stated.

The the varsity lifted the shelter-in-place order at about eleven p.m. University spokesman Scott Trotter stated UVU police would offer students escorts to their automobiles in the event that they requested them.
