State DOT warns: Get ready for congestion in Stamford’s South End

STAMFORD — The state Department of Transportation held its eighth informational meeting on its formidable plan to switch the Atlantic Road railroad bridge whereas maintaining practice service this week — the message was the same as earlier ones: Get ready for congestion within the South End.

The plan will shut a sliver of Atlantic Road simply south of the Interstate-ninety five overpass for six months starting in late February.

That sliver, though fewer than one hundred ft, means lots to all city residents who reside under the rail line. It pushes visitors, some four,one hundred automobiles a day on common, to 3 different arteries out and in of the South End. A part of the undertaking requires more closures close by afterward.
