SALT LAKE CITY — An 18-yr-previous man who reportedly did not need to go to jail was arrested after allegedly making an attempt to ram a police automotive while his girlfriend and their unrestrained 1-yr-previous baby have been within the automotive, based on police.
Luis Alejandro Alfaro-Munguia was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail early Saturday for investigation of failing to cease for police, two counts of assault on a police officer, youngster abuse, reckless endangerment, driving on a denied license and reckless driving.
About 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Salt Lake Metropolis police attempted to tug Alfaro-Munguia over for a minor visitors infraction, in line with a Salt Lake County Jail booking report.
But when the officer turned on his overhead lights, Alfaro-Munguia continued driving, hit a tree that had fallen within the street, and “then accelerated backward towards (the) police car, which was instantly behind” him, the report states.
The officer had to additionally throw his automotive into reverse to keep away from being hit, in response to the report.
A chase that lasted approximately seven minutes at a “high fee of velocity” then ensued before Alfaro-Munguia pulled over, the report states.
“He said he didn’t need to go to jail so fled,” based on the report.
Within the car have been Alfaro-Munguia’s girlfriend and their 1-yr-previous baby.
“The 1-yr-previous baby was not secured within the car and was positioned at an extreme amount of hazard, as was the grownup feminine,” police wrote in the report.
After he was arrested, Alfaro-Munguia’s mother and father contacted police and advised them that “he is paranoid and has fled from the police a number of occasions, although they inform him not to.”
