Police looking for restaurant burglar in Stamford


STAMFORD — Housebreaking investigators say they are on the brink of release surveillance tape of a person who tried to break into two Stamford eating places on consecutive mornings this week.

The tried burglaries occurred early Tuesday morning at Murphy’s Townhouse Cafe on Franklin Road and on Wednesday morning at Zody’s 19th, which is on the E. Gaynor Brennan Golf Course.

“It seems to be the same suspect in both break-ins,” stated Sgt. Sean Scanlan. “We now have pretty good video and we hope to get some cooperation from the general public and get this man’s identify so we will transfer ahead from there.”

In line with surveillance tapes and different proof investigators checked out, it seems that the burglar was unable to take anything of worth from either restaurant.

Scanlan stated the suspect was capable of get into Zody’s via a rear rest room window Wednesday morning. But because there was nothing in the money register or anything useful for the man to steal, he left the restaurant with out taking something.

On Tuesday morning the man acquired into the rear of Murphy’s Townhouse and tried to open a freezer, however was unsuccessful, Scanlan stated.

Scanlan stated police have been working to release a video of the suspect afterward Wednesday.
