Downtown residents and guests might have been stunned by the whoop-whoop of army helicopters maneuvering above Salt Lake’s central enterprise district Sunday, but the exercise was only a coaching exercise. The Utah Nationwide Guard reported that two UH-60 Black Hawks and a UH-72 Lakota helicopter have been making a number of landings and takeoffs from the helipads atop the 24-story Wells Fargo Middle at 299 S. Primary on Sunday afternoon. The coaching train was a warmup for the upcoming, giant-scale train referred to as Desert Ice scheduled for April 10.
