Man injured when train hits van in North Salt Lake

NORTH SALT LAKE — A person sustained minor accidents Thursday morning when he stopped on practice tracks and a FrontRunner practice slammed into his van, officers stated.

About 6:30 a.m., the van stopped for visitors throughout practice tracks in the space of Middle Road. The monitor’s crossing arms came down and hit the van. The driving force then moved into the path of an oncoming practice, officials stated.

“The tracks are a dangerous place to be stopped. We put lots of give attention to that and making an attempt to get individuals to stay back behind these white strains and markers,” stated Utah Transit Police Lt. Mike Thiede.

Nobody else was injured in the crash, officers stated.

Trains have been delayed for about two hours following the incident and a bus bridge was set up whereas the scene was cleared, in response to UTA.
