SIGURD, Sevier County — Two hikers on Friday made an uncommon discovery in Strawberry Canyon, officers stated.
In line with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Workplace, the hikers found a cache of dynamite along with a number of items of clothing, instruments, a gun, pots and pans, and some aspirin in an alcove beneath a cliff in the canyon, which is a department of South Cedar Ridge Canyon west of Sigurd.
The clothing appeared to have been dug up by pack rats and coyotes, the office stated.
“As they have been pulling a few of the gadgets up from the bottom they discovered a bundle of dynamite in a burlap sack together with some blasting caps,” officers stated. Smaller sticks of dynamite in the cache had partially crystalized.
After making the invention, the hikers left the world and referred to as the sheriff’s workplace. On Saturday, they took a sheriff’s deputy to the world the place they discovered the weird stash.
The sheriff’s office contacted the Utah County bomb squad.
