Fake grenade prompts real evacuation of Utah elementary school


TAYLORSVILLE — Taylorsville Elementary Faculty was briefly evacuated Tuesday after a scholar brought a suspicious gadget to high school.

The gadget turned out to be a “training/facsimile grenade,” stated Granite Faculty District spokesman Ben Horsley.

A primary-grade scholar introduced the gadget to high school, 2010 Mantle Ave., Tuesday morning. It was not instantly recognized where the scholar received the pretend grenade.

A instructor was alerted after the boy pulled out the system in school and confirmed it to some associates, Horsley stated.

After the state of affairs was delivered to the eye of a faculty secretary, the building was evacuated for about 20 minutes, Horsley stated. He stated about 500 college students and school members have been taken throughout the street to a church to remain heat while Unified firefighters cleared the constructing and decided the gadget was innocent.
