Alaska Airlines opens big new hangar at Anchorage airport

Alaska Airways formally opened its new Upkeep and Engineering Facility and Hangar at 3600 Previous Worldwide Airport Street on the Ted Stevens Anchorage Worldwide Airport on Wednesday.

Based on Tim Thompson, Alaska Airways manager for exterior affairs, the $50 million building greater than doubles the dimensions of the unique Nineteen Fifties-era hangar nearby.

The new hangar measures greater than one hundred,000 sq. ft, giant sufficient to deal with two 737-MAX 9 aircraft. Alaska’s previous hangar is unable to accommodate the airline’s next-era plane.

The airline broke floor on the brand new hangar in August 2016.
